Hey all, it's not a quality issue to record MDS-JE520 > TOSlink > Philips CDR-775, then do an EAC DAE with my Plextor 401240, right? It's better than MDS-JE520 > TOSlink > Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum, yeah? I just can't get the drivers for the AOpen Cobra that I just bought to stop fucking me out of my money and I want to get some shows done and mastered.
Any feedback is hella appreciated!

Personally, I try to avoid eac gens at all costs. Maybe I am just picky, but I can't stand a dae process, too much room for errors. I think the SB resamples automatically, so if you were sending it a 48k file, it wouldn't matter, but it would with a 44.1. You can get a zoltrix nightengale or one of the others based on the dsp? chip for about 40 bucks with opticals in/out.

Aopen Cobra is the same as the Zoltrix pro 6. Chances are you will have the same issues. I'd say save up a bit more and buy a higher end card. But that's just my opinion.

What's wrong...what OS?

XP Pro, yo. I'm going to snatch out the Audigy and Cobra and wipe everything clean, then throw the Cobra back in and see if it still takes giant craps on me.
Kinda wanted to keep the Audigy for the gaming and playback and convenience, but we'll see.
