Quality long play digital audio recorders
« on: January 31, 2011, 12:14:39 AM »
Hi there,

I am looking to purchase "the best" quality voice recorder on the market. My primary use is for phone recording and small group meetings with background noise. Diasonic's DDR-7000 seems to have these necessary features, but I do not know if this is a good recorder for what it is worth, marked at around $185. Sony's PCMD1, which runs for approximately $2000 may be the best.

What is the end product usage..? Do you expect significant roomnoise reduction?
I do lots of spoken word & cellphone recordings I never spend more then about $200
On my units. Pro corporate results always achieved.

With sound muffle in the background combined with noise, a feature of noise reduction along with audio gain, if that is correct?; the end result would allow to make out conversations masked through the ceiling(mainly for surveillance purposes). Could you recommend what product might be suitable?

Is this to be permanently installed in one location, if so did you consider a small boundary mic that can be mounted flush on a ceiling tile, such as the Crown MB1BR or Beyerdynamic MPC 22, either for around $75 on eBay?

Yeah, that's a very good suggestion. The mic(s) you use will be more important than the actual recorder.
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.
