marantz pmd 420 problem...any ideas?
« on: March 22, 2006, 02:56:13 PM »
i have an old pmd 420 to play around with.

it seems that something keeps causing it to click off...as if the auto stop is continually being tripped.

i am at a complete loss, because i cant seem to find the mechanisim that trips the auto stop.

any help would be appreciated!

and if you cant help....well thats alright too!

thanks in advance!

i suggest telling your recorder to lay off the 420 and giving it 2-3 days to sober up.   ;D ;D

well...the stopping problem was fixed by taking it apart, and realizing there was a tiny screw preventing the counter from moving.

so apparently, the auto stop mechanisin is connected somehow to the counter.

now i need to get to the board and figure out how to how to solder new 1/4" pots and rca jacks.

anyone know anything about this?
