Title: Random DAT Transfer Question
Post by: Angstroms on February 07, 2014, 10:28:17 PM
Hey all,

Just wondering about something that I made a mistake on... When I was transferring a DAT, I transferred it at 16/48. But the DAT tape was actually recorded at 16/44. If I convert the WAV file to 16/44, would that be ok? Or would it be better to transfer the DAT tape at 16/44. I just want to make sure that I have created the best possible digital transfer so I can get rid of these DAT tapes. I assume that it would not matter, as long as I convert it to 16/44. Thanks for looking.

A.

The capture will be fine and all you need to do is change the WAV file header to 44.1 kHz. You don't need to actually resample the data or redo the transfer.

How you do this varies by DAW. Usually it's just a matter of selecting the properties nun and making the adjustment to the metadata.
