Topic: Decent Video Editting Software (Trial ver. ok)

Howdy Folks,

My buddy and I recent caught the Femi Kuti show up in Flagstaff, AZ.  I recorded the audio and he took a couple short videos with his digicam.  Now, the video is nothing professional at all and the quality is so-so, but the camera also picks up audio.  Now the audio on the camera is straight funked up but it's decent enough the decipher what song is actually being sung.  We had the idea of taking small clips from my audio and overlapping it on the short video clips.

Any rec's for some software that would do this easily and allow us to save in MPG/AVI/whatever(just not some crap file type specific to the program)??

Just started playing around with video.

Virtualdub and TMPGEnc are extremely useful.
