Title: The "new" WalMart Battery - on EBAY
Post by: twatts (pants are so over-rated...) on June 02, 2005, 06:53:24 PM
I went to WalMart last week, actually 3 in my area, and none had the 9v/5400mAh flat grey battery we all love, instead they have a 7.2/2000 mAh Energizer...

So I went to EBAY and bought this:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=94888&item=5779406979&rd=1

I ended up paying $55, but it is smaller by several inches and is a 9v/6000 mAh battery.  It also includes a car charger for charging on the road...

Good luck!

Terry

Interesting.  The unit (but not all the accessories) looks identical to my Lenmar unit (discussed briefly here (http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=40985.0)), sold by a joint that claimed it was 6600 mAH,when in fact it was only 5400 mAH.  Let us know when it arrives if it's actually 6000 mAH, eh?  Thanks!

also post the size if you can, can't really tell from the pic and I didn't notice exact specs listed. Thanks!

Yeah, ouch on the $20 S&H - it came by priority USPS.

But I took it home and am charging it.  I'll shoot some photos this wekend and post them for folks.  Also, I guess I'll have to figure how to test its capacity...

I'll keep everyone up to date...

No panel on the back with specs or manufacturer part #?

No specs and no model # available.  At least none that I remember.

Pictures of the battery and a Walmart battery for comp.  (Walmart battery is bigger).  Also, instruction booklet...

Initial testing shows that the unit does indeed power the UA5 with phantom power.  No actual show testing, yet, though - I should've last night, but got lazy...

I just picked up the Walmart battery for $30 on clearance last Thursday.  I'm probably gonna pick up a few more for that price.

Well, I haven't tested the mAh, or the actual voltage output, but this smaller "wally" battery has successfully powered my UA5 several times out at shows.

The car charger is pretty cool too, nice to know I can charge this, as well as the typ. "wally" battery, off any 12v source...
