If Busman is too busy let me know.  When you do the digi-mod you cut a wire in one place, and add a wire in another.  Being able to make and break those connections with a switch should not be a big deal.

Just making sure you know... with a standard digimod you can still RECORD to a computer via USB, you just can't use it for playback.  The switch allows you to use it as a soundcard for playback.  If you really need that capability, then you want the switch.  If not, then it's just one more thing to go wrong IMO.

Can I get a definition on how we are using the word playback?

Normally a soundcard in a computer allows you to play music from some program out to speakers or line-out, etc.  I call that playback, and a stock UA-5 can do that, acting as an external soundcard to the computer via USB.  When you do a digimod it breaks that capability in the UA-5.  Most of us don't miss this functionality in the UA-5, we just use the soundcard in our computers.

When a UA-5 has the digi-mod done you can still record from the UA-5 to the computer via USB, so if you want to be the occasional laptop taper, you can still do that, or use a JB3, H120, MT, etc.
