I know that most people are running DAT, but I know there are a few minidiscers out there. I was just wondering if anyone has every made their own battery pack to power their minidisc recorder. I know that I have seen them for DAT decks at concerts, but I was wondering if there is an easy way to make on for MD. I go to a lot of festivals, and it would be nice to have something that would last most of the day. I know the one difference between DAT and MD is that MD uses a 5V input, so I don't know how that will affect things.

Lots of rechargable AA batteries? These things can't consume that much power...

I only use rechargable AA for my gear that uses them. My bag is heavy enough.

Nice small RC packs would be a good way to go, I think.

i use to use MD for about 3 years and the pack i made only cost me $8 at radio shack. Go and buy a case that holds 4 D-cell batts. then get the right a size adapter to fin into you DC jack. next all you need to do is make the batt case by-pass the last cell so that you only need 3 batts to run it. wire the adapter toi the cell pack and your ready to go for about 20 hours of recording time. I did 13 bands at Bonnaroo 2002 using this set up.
In my eyes its the only way to go. I also use this setup w/ my M1
hope this helps.

The JVC portable MD recorder uses a 6v input thus you could use the same pack you would use for a D3/7/8 although the connector is different. The sony portable I have uses like a 3.5v input I think. Best Buy sells 1850 mah AA rechargables made by energiser for 13 bucks for 4. Those should power your MD for a long time. They will power my D100 DAT for many hours more than a 2 set concert. I would not reccomend the D battery pack that some reccomend due to the high cost of D batteries. I have a mag light I have never used because it takes 4 D batteries and I can never bring myself to spend the money it takes to power the damn thing.

couldn't you just fab a 6v sla with the proper end, and run your md for days?
