Sony PCM-A10: Volume Levels for Field Recording
« on: August 08, 2020, 09:01:26 AM »
Hi

One of the more tricky challenges for field recording is working out what Recording Volume Level to use (especially for drop rigs).  Possibly the same for you Tapers - although I suspect that many of you are at the 'loud', not the 'quiet', end of the spectrum!

Anyway, for anyone else playing around at the quiet end, here are my findings so far (see attached chart).

Interested to hear the experiences of others.

Regards,

Rob

one good thing about the A10 is that it can take a pretty hot signal for a handheld (+12 dBU) and not overload the input circuit
