Mouting suggestions for converted podium mics (AT853s)
« on: July 03, 2007, 07:22:35 PM »
So, a while back I bought two podium mics that have AT853 Hyper caps, the adapter down to AT933 (I think, doesn't matter), the flexible shaft, and a set of AT8533s.  I bought this for the Hyper caps, which I didn't have, and the phantom adaptors.  As you can see in the picture below, they modded beautifully to phantom adapters by simply sodering and screwing in the mini-XLR connector.  Now, I want to mount the shafts to something to make them my stand set of mics to do different configurations seeing as how the shafts have two sections of flex at the top and bottom of the shaft.  I was considering just sodering the mini-XLR connectors and then mounting them to a piece of metal to attach to the stand, sort of an even L shape and the mics/shaft would stick out straight.  Then I thought about doing it so that the mic shaft was centered over the stand, an actual L shape.  Throughts or suggestions?
