I decided to make battery packs for my ART II. So in my stupidity I didn't look at the unit before I built and plugged in the battery box
The plug needed to have the center tip negative, instead of positive. So I plug in the battery pack and I smell smoke, then figuring out what I have done. So I reversed the tip, and I have the following:
When I used the battery pack I made on the jack, the power button is one while in the off position, 48V, or 12V position.
When I put in two 9V batteries, it appears to operate correctly, with no power light on off, and power lights on the 12 and 48 volt positions.
Now I'm afraid of plugging my mics in to test it...what is the chance it will fry my mics.
I figure since it smoked, I could take it apart and find the burned component and replace.
Note to self, ALWAYS check polarity becofe making power cables
