Any luck yet?

Try power off and power back on to try again.

I have also plugged my SPDIF to the INjack when it should be in the OUT jack, but hey, I'm just a noob...

I bought the unit a few months back and the guy said it had a clean bill of health from pro-digital and had never used it since.  Since ive had it I have taped maybe 6-10 shows so the heads shouldnt be an issue.  Also last night I got it to play one tape and all the sudden the unit said F cut and cut my f*cking tape.  I tried FF it and the tape only stayed on one side turning and the other side didnt move.  WTF is wrong with this thing

Well, I can tell you a little about my DA-P1 problems.

I bought a unit a few years ago that purportedly only had 50 hours of use.  I was slow getting mics so I patched for a few shows, maybe 10 or 12 over about 4 or 5 months.  I started getting the "T-Cut" error and it would not record or play.  I sent it out to Tascam in SoCal and the guy calls me back and says my heads are cooked.  I explain that there is <100 hours of use and he calls bullsh!t.  HE then tells me that the DA-P1's head's and guts are all one unit...$475 for repairs.  The only thing left on my old deck is the outer case.

Best of luck, Kevin.

PS, if you send it to Paul at Pro-Dig ask him when it was last serviced.

Actually, I'd call up Pro-Dig now and ask if the service claimed by the seller was actually performed - at least you know for certain one way or the other.

he sent me the sheet that showed the date of the cleaning which im going to look for right now (might take awhile I just moved)
When yours said  F CUT to did actually cut the tape because it broke one of my tapes but not the other one I tried.  I got it to play one tape and it showed levels and all but 99% of them nothing comes out.  Any suggestions? (ask for my money back, get him to service the deck again...)
thanks for the help fellas

As discussed a couple of weeks ago, send it to Paul, along with the service ticket and explain that this was purchased in December and the unit has seen limited action since it was serviced.  Why is it no longer working?  Paul should be able to tell how much (or little) the unit has been played since it was serviced.

The unit worked properly when you bought it in December, no?
