car cd player

any recs on a car cd player.  Single disc is fine, ipod inputs would be nice.  I don't know a whole lot about this stuff but i'm looking to replace my factory deck.  I would probably say in the range of 200-300.

When I bought one 2 years ago, Pioneer seemed to have the best rep in my price range ($150-$200) and I went with the DEH-4600, which does MP3 and WMA files, and has a rear auxiliary input. It's treated me perfectly, no problems and very good sound.

The newer models (the 4700 I think) look pretty similar and are "ipod and xm/sirius ready" meaning I guess you just need the appropriate pioneer adapter. Crutchfield prices aren't great, but since you get all the installation gear and great support for free, I went with them.

i got a nakamichi cd-400 and really like it.  it's extremely basic looking (rotary knob, small display, not crazy colors) because nak spent the time on the internals and not on funky graphical displays that you really don't need.   24 bit dacs, great sound, and it's got an aux in for an ipod

should be 250 or under from many places online

I have a pretty nice deck that i'm looking to sell. It's an Eclipse CD8053. One of the best sounding decks for the money, imo (16v pre amp w/ balanced outs, X-crossovers, etc.). Overall, it's pretty advanced but I think it's best feature (besides the way it sounds) is it's ability to play almost any disc you put in it. No skips! You can connect an ipod/722 via the aux input. I paid $500 for it a few summers ago, but I will let it go for $200, shipped. Let me know if you are interested.

Edit to add: I just realized that this deck must be used with an external amp (no speaker level outputs).

Eclipse 8053 is and AWESOME sound quality deck... It dosent have a buit in amplifier.. Its pre-amp only.. Youll need a 4 channel amp. I know this is a dead subject (1+ months since last post), but I had to chime in.. Not only was I a manufactures Rep for Eclipse, but own a car audio shop and have done car aoudio for 20 years. And Eclipse isnt what it used to be 3 years ago.. They have found the ways of the superstores... If he still has the 8053 get that and a decent 4 channel amp and you have a nice little system.. 8 volt out is hard to find nowadays.....
