A friend has the CA-9200 and used a stereo cable to run into Sony M10 (line in) and he's getting mono, even when isolating one microphone. Normally just that one channel should be showing sound but both are, as if it's mono. Any idea what's up?

is the m10 set to record mono?

Is mono an option on the M10?
Also, he used the CA mics straight into the M10 and was able to get stereo.

Hmm, try a different cable if you haven't already. I'm sure Chris will chime in. Try fiddling with the gain on the 9200. Also, try the mic input as well as the line, maybe the line input is bad...

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have my friend try a few thigns. He did try a different cable and the result was the same.

I would send the unit to me for evaluation have your friend contact me. I would double check the cable as well and try sending a stereo source into the input like something from an ipod or cd player. Listen back on headphones you can tell if its stereo or not. If it is than the problem is with the preamp.
