Title: RCA attenuators? Do they exist?
Post by: OFOTD on June 05, 2006, 01:08:36 PM
I'm looking for a RCA barrel attenuator.

I have a cable pair that goes XLR out of my V3 to RCA(m) into the modSBM.  I was hoping that instead of having the cable remade or updated that there might be a RCA barrel type of attenuator that I could just plug in instead.

Anyone have any thoughts or places that may sell something like that?

What about a XLF(F) > XLR(F) barrel attentuator to plug directly behind the V3 then XLR(M) > RCA?

What about a XLF(F) > XLR(F) barrel attentuator to plug directly behind the V3 then XLR(M) > RCA?

I thought about that as well but the clearance from the bottom of the V3 to the bottom of my gear bag is not enough for those types of barrels and the XLR > RCA cables.

So Martin I guess Jack never did part with his gear did he?  You loving the 722?

I am sure it sitting in his closet in Houston now.  ::)

I figured that clearance was an issue after I posted that. Good luck with the search.

I freakin' love the 722. Best piece of gear EVA! Already planning on upgrading to the 744 in the next 4-6 months.  ;D

Here is what I could find...pricey though...~$30 for a pair...

I think you will need the 12db ones too...doesn't the V3 boost 10db on the outputs?

Thanks for the link.  The difference of the analog output of the V3 to the SBM is 25db according to Mike Grace.  I've always preferred running my Lunatec's really freaking hot so I was only getting 1 - 2 on the SBM knob.  With the pad i'll be more around 7-8.  Bring more of the modSBM sound out.

Yeah, run that modSBM-1 as hot as you can.  ;D

Those attenuator cables ar just simple resistor networks. PM ToddR, I'd bet he can make you what you need.
