I finally got to run a large OMT set up again at Phish Bethel Woods last weekend.
For night one, we ran a pair of AKG ck61ULS PAS, a pair of DPA 4060 omnis spread about 4 feet and kindms AKG c426 XY cardioid.

For night two, I came away with a 4 channel OMT set 1 and a 6 channel set 2: set 1 we ran a pair of AKG ck63 PAS, a pair of DPA 4060 omnis spread about 8 feet; set 2 AKGck63 + DPA Omni + AKG c426 XY caridoid

Here is a photo of night 1 I also posted in rig pics. No night two rig photos. Any of you OMT appreciators check it out and let me know what you think?

Man, these OMTs really put you in the place. Crisp, airy, and full pulls. Total envelopment of sound. Split omnis outdoors are a MUST. Nice job! Will give a closer listen tomorrow to compare the different permutations. Real nice OMTs

What were the respective mixdowns for these, rock? You guys made out like pure bandits. I might have to start saving my pennies for the 4060s. There is a really nice depth here.

I stopped being mad about this one long enough to work on it. Last time ever in a stadium. Just not worth the hassle.

SO for night one it was basically using the ck61's (cards) as the center at 0 dB, the omnis at -4dB and the 426 about -6dB
For night two the ck63's (hypers) had no windscreens so first set was fried, it was about 0dB on 426 and -3dB on the 4060.
set 2 I did similar but added the ck63's about -3dB with the 426 being about -1 dB and 4060's -4dB

I agree that the DPA 4060's are very nice with a hot output signal. I paid about $850 for the entire stereo kit which includes some mounting options and two of the ever elusive microdot to XLR adapters. (DPA 4060 sk)

Hey all.  Just got home and back on line after 3-1/2 weeks up a mountain looking after my father and enjoying the less digitally connected lifestyle.  Thanks for all the links to your recordings, I've now got some good listening to look forward to as I catch back up!

Well, the mics look to be AKG c414's judging from the mounts. There IS a black foam windscreen on the left one, but for some reason they added a deadrat to only the right one.

Looks like 414 or similar model AKGs to me as well, and looks like a standard near-spaced configuration.  I bet it was due to simply using whatever mix of windscreens the taper had available.

On windscreens..

I ordered five Movo WST50 direct from Movo to try in place of the BAS in my OMT rig before the Suwannee Roots fest weekend before last, but they mistakenly sent WST100s instead, and I just returned them today for the 50's.  I asked if WST60 or 70  might be available as those are likely to be a more optimal fit for my mics, but was told those have not been made in years and there is no remaining stock.

Because I already had one, I did use a single WST80 in place of BAS in the center M/S position in my rig.  In trying to stretch the rubber cuff to get the head of the Naiant X-8 through it I ended up ripping the rubber cuff, but just gaff taped that up.  There was no significant wind all weekend so no test on that account.  I will listen to see if I can hear any difference in high-frequency attenuation in that center M/S position in comparison to other recordings made at the same venue, but the PA had been changed and the mix sounded brighter listening live without earplugs, so a good feel for response differences between the Movo and Shure screens will have to wait.

Expecting some rain I spent a good bit of time building some "rain hats" which I planned to attach to each windscreen individually, as it would take a rather big umbrella to cover the directional mics of the array, and something the size of a patio umbrella if I wished to cover the spaced omnis too.  Made these up from "trim to fit" HVAC filter material to break up and disperse rain-drop impact, with water-proof umbrella fabric adhered to the bottom with spray-adhesive, all of which was then treated with water-repellent along with the wind-creens themselves.  Will post photos, notes, and test results of all this at some later point.   Fortunately the weather was great so those things went unused, staying packed in the car at camp all weekend.

Shoutout to Mr. Bucket:

Favorite recording of 2022 is TTB OMT4 from Red Rocks:
https://archive.org/details/ttb2022-07-30

For years, decades actually, I've wanted to run spaced omnis at outdoor venues with great sound. But, I noticed and disliked the 'hole in the center' sound.

OMT is just what I've been looking for. Sincere thanks!
