R-44, Format Issue
« on: July 06, 2019, 07:11:22 PM »
Hello, My R-44 is unable to format or factory reset. Once in the card menu, when asked to format I'm unable to move the cursor over to the yes position from the default no position. This is the only menu item where I can't move the cursor. Has anyone else had this problem? Would a firmware update possibly fix it. The deck is an Oade super mod BTW.

Thanks, Todd

Good point. What happens when you try to arm record? (Record-pause if you don't need to make a file right now)
Check the little tiny switch on the SD card.

Thanks for the reply's....I thought maybe the cards were locked but they were not, also the unit detects a locked card if you attempt to format.

Try formatting the card to FAT32 in a windows machine first.
Try a different card.

Yeah, has this card ever worked in the R44?

Try cleaning the recorder's card-reader contacts. May as well clean the contacts of the cards too while you are at it.

Have you tried a known good card?

Hey, yeah same deck...sorry I never reported back, was so long ago can't remember but it was something stupid on my part as I recall, lol. I have not had any format issues since then. Cheers.
