Anyone use Peak
« on: May 01, 2003, 01:31:16 AM »
In OS X for recording?  Any horror stories out there?  I may be forced to use it on Friday, and I need to know if I'm gonna have any problems that I can't fix now...  Thanks.

I have the MOTU 2408 mkII and there seems to be some issue with the driver that really can't be blamed on Peak. The only issue is if you own any VST plug-ins. You need Mac OS X versions of any plug-ins. Mac OS 9 versions won't work. I haven't been willing to shell out the ca$h to replace my Waves Gold plug-ins, so between the MOTU driver issue and plug-ins, I still use Mac OS 9 for audio work.

I use Bias Peak 3.0 to record 2 track into my computer almost exclusively. I have not had any problems with it at all thus far and can't really see myself having any major problems in the future.

My only complaint is that in order to record to CD, you must export the entire file, with track markers, into a playlist that can only be burned by Toast Titanium. Not that I don't like Toast Titanium 5.0, but I wish I had other options if need be.

If you have any questions, feel free to pmail me directly.

+T, thanks.  I just wanted to make sure that there weren't any major issues.  Looks like I'll find out tomorrow.  ;D

Once Emagic ports Waveburner to Mac OS X, that is the Redbook CD software you should look at. In fact, you could do away with Peak altogether if you wanted since it supports plug-ins and can record as well.
