Post by: Swampy on May 08, 2004, 12:34:31 PM
Hey. Im not that computer savy, so I need some help... my computer is on a linksys wireless system... While downloading/seeding some torrents, Ive noticed that my client is telling me I dont have all my ports open. Now, I really dont even know what that really means, but that torrents will go faster if you have these ports open... Could anyone tell me how to open these ports with a linksys??? THANKS!!!!!!!!!

i use netgear stuff for my networking, but i found the tutorial over at the furthurnet site to be very helpful for netgear and linksys portforwarding.

type this into your browser

168.192.0.1

or

168.192.0.0

i think those are the numbers, that should bring up your router configurations.  PM me if that works

Nope, it's 192.168.1.1 for linksys.  Their is no username (leave it blank) and the password is "admin" without the quotes.

Click here for a direct link to the Forwarding page (http://192.168.1.1/Forward.htm")

Go under the advanced tab and then the Forwarding tab.  Forward ports 6881-7881 (both UDP and TCP) to the IP address of the machine you want.  Hit Apply and you're done. ;D
