USB question
« on: June 08, 2004, 12:54:36 PM »
Posted this over on the oade board during the downtime....

When I plug my UA5 into the right hand USB I get NO signal. Works fine when I plug into the left hand USB.  Why is this??  Only thing I can think of is that I had the UA5 plugged into the lefthand side when I uploaded the drivers....should this matter??  Thanks :D

it shouldnt matter which usb port you plug into...unless one of the ports is malfunctioning

have you tested the "non-working" usb port with another peripheral?

i have had onboard usb ports go bad before..especially pre usb2.0's

that's probably what happened.  my laptop is the same way - USB devices are only recognized on the plug they were connected to when installed.  I have no idea why.

Chris- The port is good.  I have a mouse plugged into it right now..works fine.

Craig- You have had the same thing happen...must be the drivers.  So have you plugged into the wrong one at a show yet.  Screwed myself at Primus a while back.  D'OH!

With windows you need to install drivers each time a audio USB device is plugged into a new USB port. With XP it's easier to do and most of the time you don't know it happens. A majority of the Audio devices are not Windows certified drivers. Not that they won't work with windows. they just have not paid for the windows compatability testing. These drivers must be installed manually.
