ok so I know how to test the offset etc.  done on a few drives and had no trouble.  well testing my sony crx216e I kept getting 0 as the offset.  did my cd rom and got -4 so I know I didn't forget how to do it.  again over and over I got 0.  well looking up my drive it says that the read offset is +6.  so I set it  (read only, not combined) to +6.    extracted > burned > extracted.   when I compare wavs it say 6 samples missing.  wtf?  if it said this when the offset was 0 it would make since and the offset would be +6.  but it did this when the offset was set at +6.  confused here.

haha, i cant 100% configure my drive, shit drove me nuts for days, so i set it so it overwrites ONE sample, fuck it, ya know

that's exzctly how I do it and keep coming up with 0.

It's possible that your offset is zero. If you go to EAC's website there should be a list of different cd roms and their correct offsets somewhere on the wesbite.

I think it is zero but my drive is listed as +6.

I'd trust your setting if you put it through the proper tests. I think there's a disclaimer at the EAC site that says not all drives may be correct and that could be the case with your drive.

ok since this question came up i decided to check my drive.  I extracted file from the original audio cd and put them on my hard drive.  I then burnt the file to a new cd and extracted a few of the file.  Then i did the compare wavs and picked the 2 files.  I get no errors does this mean everything is fine, or did i do something wrong.

Ok i did everything again on another drive and did get an error and set the offset and it came up the same way as my other drive so i guess everything is good to go

first you need to make sure everything else is configured correctly in eac.  if you have xp you need to dl and instal external aspi interface drivers (under eac options > interface).  as far as offset    if you get no errrors (with everything else configured correctly)  it is 0.  if you get an error then set the offset.  test again and it comes up 0 you are good to go.

i think i have it all figured out.  I did everything off the website and came up with 0 on one drive and two of my other drives i had to set the offset and retested and it came back with 0
