JB3 line-in noise?
« on: June 30, 2004, 12:10:34 AM »
I've discovered I'm on a tight budget this summer, so no A/D for a while, and no mic/preamp upgrades either...

My recorder finally gave up, and I'm in the market for a new one, and have decided on getting a NJB3 based on the research here. I'm curious as to what type of noise the recorder might introduce (such as spinup noise) to recordings, and what it would be comparable to, and maybe how to prevent/lessen it?

Thank you.

Never heard any spinup noises at all, even recording acoustic gigs.

I keep the recorder a couple of feet away from the mics tho.

Noise from the hard drive really only comes into play when running mic in.  As long as you're running line in you shouldn't hear anything. ;)
