PMD 6xx & JW Pre?
« on: April 25, 2005, 01:17:18 PM »

Anyone have any thoughts on the preacticality of replacing the preamp in the PMD 660, 670 or 671 with JW preamp? The small size seems like it would lend itself to this.

well as an owner of a 671, and having done some disassembly, it could be done as there is enuff room. but the biggest issue is getting the mic pre integrated into the A/D stage with levels to match the input of the A/D chipset. dunno if it is worth it vs just adding a high end preamp instaed. there would be absolutely no warranty on the 6xx...
