Advice on a good 12' -13' stand.
« on: June 14, 2004, 02:48:34 PM »
Ok so here is the story I bought an APIC featherlite 11' stand from B&H photo  months ago. Well I've used it a good 20 times since then and the screws used to hold it up have been stripping on me I lost 3 out of the 4 holes because of this . I am doing High Sierra and now I need one quick, and I did not want to go through the hassle of returning it since I have had problems with them in the past so I decided why not just drill the holes all the way through and put cotter pins in which in theory works fine, well now when it is fully extended it leans so much it wants to fall over (without my mics on it even!).
With that being said I need to find a good one quick without spending too much $ I'm looking for any advice on what is more durable in the field Example is Bogen better than Lowell, does quicklock last longer than the twist locks? Are all air cushioned stands 36"+ when fully closed?
I would prefer at least a 12' and be compact when it is closed. (I've seen some that are 59" when closed!)
Anyone here have one they would like to get rid of?
                                    All help is much appreciated.
                                                   Thanks
                                                           Tye

Tye,
I've got a Bogen 13' black stand that I would be willing to sell quickly.  Here's a link to the B&H page: 3364 The specs are all there, so you can decide if this is what you're looking for.  It's not air-cushioned. Mine has 1/4"-20 thread on the 5/8" stud, which isn't mentioned on the B&H site.

I've had this stand for 2 years and it is still in like new condition.  Ran ADK A51 TLs last summer and this stand works great for heavy LD mics.  Can ship UPS; have original Bogen box and B&H shipping box.  I paid $90, looking for a reasonable amount considering it is in excellent shape.  Only looking to sell because I've been wanting to go with the 3076.
