Tascam dr100 mk2 pad settings
« on: July 05, 2013, 09:16:56 AM »
Running with external mics....phantom on.   Center position on pad seems best for inside clubs etc...curious what settings people are using for what application.

Thanks.

Sounds about right waltmon.  Either low or medium setting.

Don't forget that you're not going to see much run time when the unit switches to aa batteries running with phantom....that is unless you are using the higher voltage aa zinc rechargeables.  I recommend running an external battery and then use the internal li-ion as the first primary backup and the aa as a last resort.  The reason for this is that the running voltage (after the initial draindown of the battery to the flat part of the discharge curve) for the ni-mh and alkilines is apparently slightly lower than the low voltage cut out on the unit, so if you choose the aa batteries as primary, the unit will cut out within like a half hour when using phantom.  Not sure why there's not an automatic switchover from aa to internals at that point, but it doesn't happen.

Emphatic MINUS T to Tascam for not giving us a firmware update on this and leaving this unresolved now for way too long, especially after it was pointed out very shortly after product release AND it had already been resolved with a firmware update on the DR100.  Good product...very VERY poor customer support.
