MINIDISC Help
« on: July 18, 2007, 07:58:06 PM »
I have a Sony MZ-NH700 and lately whenever I record (concerts and band practices) the group function takes over.  At the end of recording I'll go to press stop and there's like 70-100+ files on there!  I looked in the guide it came with and it said:

Problem:
The recorder always creates a new group when recording.

Cause:
The group recording is set to "ON" set the group recording setting to ":REC OFF"

Ok, I did that and it's still doing this, any suggestions, hints, tips?  My band is playing a show tomorrow night and I really don't want to spend my time merging these files later.  Also, I have a show to tape this week and I really don't want to spend hours merging these files.

Thanks for reading and for any help you may have.

You have an automatic track-marker or something set?

I don't think so, the only feature that would resemble that on here is the group function which I'm beginning to hate!

i know sometimes when they arent getting a signal or its too low to detect, it will start a new track when they signal is picked up again. i'm not sure if this can be disabled or not,i have to hi-md units and its never happened to me, but then again, i usually do loud shows and once i hit record initially, its not quiet enough to make this happen. i'd call the sony tech support hotline, the number is in your manual.

VH - OK, this happens to me when recording through "line-in."  Not to worry.  If you cannot fix it on the MD, use foobar2000 (www.foobar2000.org) to combine the files all into one file in minutes.  Just select the files from inside of fb2k, then highlight them with a CTL-A and then select "convert" with the right button.  This will take you to the menu where you can choose formats, etc.  Dead easy but write if you are stuck.  I do this with stuff from "line-in" on my Hi-MD.

Cheers
