Title: Run all your gear off a sony NPF battery?!?
Post by: midside on May 29, 2007, 06:42:40 PM
I have been trying to figure out a way to power all of my stuff off of the sony NPF batteries because I usually carry all my gear when travelling.
This would allow me to carry less.
But, the batteries used for 7-series recorders are only 7.2V.
I know I can use an MP1, but the chargers are extra bulk.
So, here's what I have come up with:

Battery sled that takes 2 NPF batteries with power distribution:
Hirose version -

XLR version -

Takes one NPF and steps up to 12V regulated with 2 hirose connectors:

Another step-up unit but with 1 cabled hirose:

NPF batteries that you can piggy-back?  I just sent them an email to see if this will give you twice as much run-time or twice as much voltage (14.4V):

They have lots of other interesting things too.
Here's a webpage that has a summary of their items but not much technical stuff:

Looks pretty interesting.  Please let us know what you find out.  It would be nice if the other outputs were at switchable voltages.  Then someone is going to have to start making Hirose>V3 power cables.  :P
