ADK TL question
« on: April 03, 2004, 01:50:49 PM »
this may be a stupid question, but I was looking over the TL's and was wondering if both sides of the diaphram pick up sound depending on what pattern you select?
It is company policy never to imply ownership in the event of a dildo - We have to use the indefinite article; "A" dildo, never: "YOUR" dildo.

And isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, ooh ooh ooh, the sky is the limit!

Yes. They are dual diaphragm mics.

going to a gig tonight where I was thinking maybe split omnis onstage...

we're thinking of a multitrack, but our MOTU only has 8 channels
so we have to skimp on the drums. keys/flute/drumpad takes 4,
bass gets 1, leaving 3 for drums.
thinking of pulling the kick from the board and using 2 mics onstage
centered to/in front of the kick for the overall drum sound.

been listening to some previous onstage recordings from the last month
and have been REALLY impressed with the deep/detailed soundstage of
card/DIN and Blumlein. accurate drum placement and nothing is lacking.

think the split-omnis may be better. place them centered, each maybe
1' - 2' to the outside of the kick...guess I'll find out tongiht

Luvean,

I would get the kick from the board, the run the TL's XY-90ยบ at drummer head height. If you are getting the kick from the FOH console, you don't need any in the mics, and may sacrifice good overall drum sound by running the pair too low.
