R-44 recordings
« on: May 13, 2013, 12:22:33 AM »
I've been searching the LMA for some recordings of KM184's (or 140's) directly into the R-44, but everything I find has some other preamp between the mics and the R-44.  If anybody can point me to some straight KM184 > R-44 recordings, I'd appreciate it.

I don't know about that combo but I run my Schoeps straight into an Oade modded R-44.  The preamp is fine and does the job.  At one point I was thinking of getting an outboard pre but have decided more mic capsules are more useful and important.  Just make sure you have external power or a DVD battery since it won't run long at all on 4-AA's.
Gear:
Audio:
Schoeps MK4V
Nak CM-100/CM-300 w/ CP-1's or CP-4's
SP-CMC-25

Oade C mod R-44  OR
Tinybox > Sony PCM-M10 (formerly Roland R-05)
Video: Varied, with various outboard mics depending on the situation

Thanks...  Have enough DVD batteries lying around.
