EAC access violation problem
« on: May 30, 2011, 01:01:53 PM »
I had been using EAC with only problems of it being a memory hog, then started getting the following error when opening EAC:  "Unhandled Exception: at 0250AD30_>ACCESS VIOLATION"

I am running Windows XP. Around the time I started getting the error I tried to get rid of AVG and install Microsoft Security Essentials. Not sure if I was messing with AVG before the error started or not. Either way I finally got rid of AVG and installed MSE and was still getting the error. I did a google search for the term and found advice to delete the EAC registry settings and move the Nero ASPI into the EAC directory. I did both those and still am getting the error. I also uninstalled and reinstalled EAC. Any suggestions?

Hadn't seen this problem firsthand... but, what audio codecs do you have installed? Maybe try updating your lame or flac executables.

Here is a note from Andre in the forum:

- At some point in EAC (startup, compression, decompression, layout editor) an ACCESS VIOLATION occur. Usually this happen if you have installed a non-conform audio codec (some LAME or OggVorbis ACM codecs, like installed by Nimo Codec Pack) or a wrong version of an installed DLL Codec (APE DLL).

You might check the anti-virus to see if it shows any false positives in any of the files related to EAC.

I would also try posting on the EAC forum to see if others are having the same problem. Maybe you will get a response from Andre there. I saw someone was getting an access violation and he did a possible fix for it that will be in the next release.
