i have a set of core sound binaurals that i haven't used for a few years

been going with the internal mics on my olympus LS-14 - mainly for ease and slealth

but ready to try going back to the proper mics

plugging all the gear together again, though, i'm having a problem with the switchable battery box

getting a perfectly good signal when the box is set to 'flat'

but nada when set to 'filter'

obviously i'd like to be able to use the bass roll off filter

suspect it's an internal wiring issue - but before i take the thing apart (and let's face it, i have no idea what i'm doing...), any obviously stupid things i might be doing wrong?

thanks in advance!

From what I’ve read from most people on the boards you shouldn’t need to use a bass roll off. If the bass is too heavy in the mix that can be fixed in post.
Mics: Avantone CK-1s, AT853 c+o
Pres: CA9100
Recorders: DR-60d mkII, DR-2d

CSBs can be pretty bass-heavy, so I can see where it would be nice to have the rolloff. But yeah, since the Olympus records in 24-bit, just eating the headroom and EQing in post sounds preferable to mucking with wiring.

Get a can of contact cleaner and spray in the switch. Might just be crud buildup.

Sometimes the simplest fix is the best. I think it's in our nature to take things apart and investigate (which I am terrible at .. I am more of a breaker than a fixer). Contact cleaner has saved me many, many times.
