AT853/U853 cardioid caps question
« on: October 19, 2021, 09:28:40 PM »
Are the old-style and new-style AT 853 caps definitely interchangeable, as I've seen mentioned here? My new-style U853 cardioid caps have gone missing (hopefully temporarily), and I see that the old-style cardioid caps, which I also have, look very different — one vent at the base where it connects to the mic body, vs. three vents on the side for the new-style ones.

UPDATE: New-style caps have turned up! Question still stands, though.

Yes, old and new 853 fit the same bodies.
Also, it is interesting to note that AT853 and AT831 also swap.  Yes, you can run AT853 caps on AT831 bodies :)I've done that a few times since the AT831 are a little smaller and had nicer clips on them.

Please DO NOT mail me with tech questions.  I will try to answer in the forums when I get a chance.  Thanks.
