Title: Hitachi DZ-MV730E camcorder help!!!
Post by: vadimo on September 17, 2006, 09:27:36 PM
anyone got the same camera here? I just wanted to have a chat about it and also ask few questions such as:

camera Sound Filter ON/OFF, should i use it for heavy music shows? I was thinking if i have it ON it might wipe out all the heavy bass, drums and guitar or make it all like 1 noise and leave me just vocals but than on the other hand if i have it OFF it might make everything as one noise, any thoughts?

also i know that next 2 shows im filming are going to be heavy as f*ck in small bar venue.

thx

I get the impression that the builtin mic is going to distort no matter what settings you have on.

Are you videotaping in stealth mode?  If so, the general rule is that the audio generally sucks in the places from which you can safely stealth video.  So even if you get a mic, if you're hidden back in the corner of the club or up in the balcony off to the side - the audio is going to suck.  Having said that - it will generaly still be better if you use an external mic, but a lot depends on the videocam's audio capabilities also.

As far as holding a mic in one one and a cam in the other... just clip the mic to your collar or hat (or wherever) and forget about it.

cool, thanks for the replay, well i decided not to film in risky places and the outcome rarely good anyway, so now its going to be places that i know dont give a shit about filming, like small venues, pubs and bars.

Next show will be in a bar-club so its ok, no stealth mode! I wanted to ask for some guidence on purchasing a mic? what should i look for and what types of quality?

thx
