Post by: teabaggins on January 14, 2008, 10:26:13 PM
im sorry for starting a new thread, but i didnt find my answers via forum searching.

1)  is there a better place than ebay to buy blank hi-md disks?

ive noticed 2 main types for sale on ebay.  the "80 min gold" and "1gb blue"

2)  what kind should i get?  im using a sony MZ-NH600.

any input is appreciated!

the 80 minute (~300mb) golds are the old legacy discs... they still will work in the HiMD recorder, but less than 30 mins record time at PCM.
the 1 gig blues will give 94 minutes of record time at PCM.

There was some place on the net that I got a case pretty cheap a few years ago, but ebay prices since then have caught up so you don't have to buy in bulk to get cheap anymore. I'd say $4.50 is a pretty decent price per disc.

The blue 1GB Sony HiMD disc is called a SONY HMD1GL.
I think there is another Sony HiMD disc with a different
color sold outside USA.

I see the Provantage has the HMD1GL for $3.96 each right now.
