"crackling" in a recording...
« on: February 28, 2004, 11:50:44 PM »
On two occasions in the past 6 six shows I've noticed a crackling in the recording.  I have no idea where this could occur.  The only thing I can think of would be the mic cables...any ideas?

corey, sounds like a cable issue- check all your cables, esp your digi cables

same problem here...
I'm running Oktava mk012 > PS2 > AD20 > Sharp MDMT877.
The MD and the AD20 are connected thanks to an optical cable that came with the MD when I bought it.
All the accessories are new...
"Quiet" cracklings can be heard sometimes in the recording.

My Sharp MD works really well and has never caused any problems.
In my opinion, the oktava produce really great tapes for the price ...

So, a little explanation would be useful...

In New Orleans cracklin' is deep-fried pig's skin.
Unhealthy for eatin' and in recordings.

i had some crackling and pops(again!) from my tape yesterday.
it's my v3 which is acting up,since everything else in the chain was different than last time

Checked your power cable connection lately - the pin issue?  When my pins start to pinch together, I get pops (though haven't had any crackling).  Now, instead of waiting for the problem, I just space the pins every so often as a preventive measure.
