good laptop + gear cases?
« on: February 05, 2004, 12:38:28 AM »
I'm looking for a case that will not only hold my laptop and all my gear, but a case from which I will be able to run everything too.  Right now I use a jansport laptop backpack where the back part completely unzips so I can lay my laptop in there, but that really doesn't give me a place for my UA-5 or my sla batteries.
Does anyone use a good laptop case that they like?  I've seen a few people on here using that rakgear backpack, I'm not sure that's what I'm looking for though.
Thanks.

how large is your laptop?

there are many laptop tapers here that are part of Team Rackgear. Do a search in the rig pics board for rackgear, you should get some good ideas.

Definitely go with the Rakgear Slam and the Target Shelves.  Best solution I've found yet.

I agree with Mirth - it depends on the laptop. Not all of them will fit in a Rakgear bag (mine, for example).

Mine doesn't fit on the shelves all nice & cozy like an ultraportable will but rides along to shows just fine in the back compartment of the bag. I usually have to prop the compartment open while recording to allow heat to get out, but my mag lite works well for that.

where do they sell the rackgears now? I looked at the places I've seen them before but they don't appear to be there.

My laptop is around 12-13" so not small.  It's a Fujitsu C series.  The dimensions of the new one on their site is: 12.85"(w) x 11.15"(d) x 1.55/2.2"(h); approximately 8.3 lbs

Would that fit?

Thanks.
