USB soundcards
« on: February 20, 2004, 02:52:32 PM »
Hello All,

I am thinking of buying one of the two types of USB souncard/converter

M-audio Sonica

Griffin iMic

I would perfer the m-audio, but will settle for the other.  What I need to know is will I be able to use Cool Edit 2000 to record with these cards?

I plan on running the audio out of my Aiwa MD to one of the cards, then record via USB with Cool Edit.

I will eventually get a standalone MD with optical outs, and a soundcard with optical in's.

Thanks,

Michael Hager

I don't understand what the inputs of my soundcard have to do with anything.    I thought the usb on the m-studio is the out, therfore Cool Edit has to record from an USB port?

The USB device is seen as a sound card, therefore its just another input & output to your recording software.

Schwilly's right, don't get the iMic. It IS ass - I used to have one.
Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."
