Transfer issues
« on: March 01, 2004, 08:03:21 PM »
I use EAC to transfer from DAT to my computer via my Hercules GT-XP soundcard.  Often when I am transfering I get static during the recording.  Some times it starts as soon as I begin recording other times it starts in the middle or at the end.  This is quite frustrating since I often don't notice the problem until after it has been burned to CD and I am listening on my system.  This happens about 40% of the time so it really causes me to start over alot when doing transfers which already takes a long time with DAT as most of you know.  So have any of you guys faced this kind of issue and if so how can I fix it.  I am not the most computer literate person so I will probably need my hand held through the fixing process.

This statement doesn't make sense.

If you have a soundcard, why do you need eac?

Also, I assume you are going dat>standalone.....

Do you use the same cable to transfer as you do to master?

Sounds like a cable issue. if the noise is not on the master dat, when listening on the machine used to transfer, and you can hear it on the discs before extraction to your hdd....that narrows it down to either the standalone or cable......

Exact Audio Copy it's a program not hardware.  I know it's not a cable issue.  The problem usually goes away if I simply close it out and restart the recording.  Whatever is causing the problem I'm damn sure it is either the soundcard itself or my computer.

Right. I'm aware of that. Your statement still doesn't make sense. If you have a soundcard, why do you need eac????
