M-audio Transit

anyone see this or ever use this?

http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.main&ID=8165223d4cfae86989745b38a55cdfcb

it looks like it connects via USB (hopefully usb 2), it says it has digi S/PDIF input and output.  and it can go up to 24/96.  looks good to me.

BUT, does m-audio stuff resample inputs?  maybe not?  and I think it would have to be usb 2 to accomodate 24/96 for recording, but I can't find anyplace where it specifies that.

for $100, maybe someone would be willing to test this thing out for reliability...

any thoughts?

FWIW, I've done 24/96 recording over USB 1.1 many times.

This is the best price I've found for this: linked.  I think I'm going to get one of these for playback and I'll test it out to see if it's bit perfect if I do.

Where would you use this thing? I can see what it's uses for playback would be, but not really for recording....unless of course the A/D sounds really good, but somehow I doubt it will.

How about if you have an external AD and just need a digital input?  Seems like if it's bit perfect it's a good way to get input from a V3...

But a digi-in to what?
If you're running an external A/d, I'm gonna go ahead & assume that it's already got a digital output. ;)
So that reduces this thing to a format converter, and as far as I can tell, only optical>USB anyway, and I'm not sure for what purpose.....???

But it's only got an optical in. So how do youget from V3>optical? Seems like a pretty big pain to run a coax>optical converter then a optical>USB converter in the field.

Sorry, amend that to say an AD with an optical output.
