HDCD Ripping
« on: July 14, 2005, 11:17:58 AM »
So as I was ripping a bunch of discs for FLAC conversion so I can use them with the Squeezebox2, I remembered most of the Dead's stuff is encoded as HDCD, which iirc is 20/44.1.  Is there a way to rip the 20bit stream from a PC? Has anyone done this before?

It will rip just fine if you use EAC or whatever.  THe HDCD coding is buried in the data file.  The HDCD decoder will pick it up in your player.  I have copied them sucessfully a bunch of times (read: DP15 9-3-77, Englishtown, NJ).
