Title: SLA ????
Post by: rowjimmytour on April 04, 2005, 03:40:27 PM
I want to rig my battery up differnt to my UA5 and NJB3. I have a car booster(SLA) and it has a cig input AC>DC with power protection. I was thinking of buying a 6 outlet surge protecter and cuttin' off the plug end and installin' a cig lighter output to the end of the surge protecter. Then I could run my UA5 and NJB3 with the power plugs that came with them. Any thoughts on doin' this because on paper I can't see any problems with this hook up. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Peace
P.S. The other day I scored a clamp umbrella at Kmart for $5.95 for summer festival shows.

Aren't the stock wall-warts wired for AC power, which they then convert to DC for the device?  Not sure feeding DC to the wall-wart will work.  Anyone else more qualified care to comment?

Wallwarts by definition are AC>DC devices.

I fyou wanted to use a AC powerstrip to power the devices wall warts, you'll have to buy a Power Invertor to go between the cigarette output and the power strip.  This invertor will convert the 12vDC to 120vAC.

There is a taper here in Raleigh that uses one of these emergency car charger thingies.  Has lights, and 2x cig outs, and runs everything for 20 some hours he says.  He uses a power invertor into a power strip for his DC devices:  his UA5 and JB3.

Depending, it may be easier to get a DC>DC convertor, something that will convert 12vDC to 9vDC and/or 5vDC.

Scratch idea above I found a converter at Kmart for 30 bucks w/ multi AC outlets.
