Topic: where and who makes a certain CD-R

using nero or feurio, isn't there a way to tell who and where makes the CD-Rs?  some one help me here

don't know how to do it in Feurio or Nero, but here's a link to a small app that can do it...

With Feurio when you stick the disc in, it should tell you what it is.  Like stick a Fuji in and it tells you its a Taiyo Yuden type whatever.

is there a known listing of brands that use TY or Japanese made CDRs?
so far the only CDR's I can find that are TY or made in Japan are Apogee and Mitsui, but Mitsui is known to flake and Apogee are way too expensive for normal burning

not really Nic. Manufacturers change all the time and keeping up with them is pretty impossible, especially with B-stock at some of the major chains hanging around for months, and all the different lines each manufacturer has.

you could buy TY-branded CDs from one of the online stores like Cascade Media, or you can just look for the made in japan label on spindles at the local stores (good luck - i can't find any japan-made stuff anymore!) One of my friends actually found 4 spindles of japan fujis at best buy last week, he said they were buried in the back of the shelf. They were the old "buzzsaw" design.

How much is shipping? Cascade Media has the same deal. $28 for 100 of silver TY discs. But shipping does kind of run up the price.
