Plastic is "deader" than brass. (Very likey to be delrin, a brass-substitute thermoplastic with amazing properties)
The geometry is what reduces the acoustic coupling.
As well as the dissimilar materials.
So....are you saying the stock plastic spikes are better

I think delrin and brass are about the same in many ways.
Brass points will mark wood floors.
Delrin looks like Fluffy left something under the speaker
We use delrin on chrome shafts as bearings because it has low-friction and dissipates heat like brass.
It is said by some to be "plastic-metal." .......Many similar properties.
I think brass is better, but I doubt you'll hear a big difference in sound.
Don't under-estimate plastics.
