I was talking about the preamps and not the standalone mod

I've looked for this information myself. I haven't found it. The best way to figure it out would be to compare the interior of an un-moded unit with one the has the mod.
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

i believe you have to change out surface mounted chips, which, without hotair tools, if almost impossible.

when it has like >24 contact points, you need some proficiency and practice. i took a soldering class in tech school and the Surface Mount segment was the most difficult. ymmv

It is not impossible but extremely difficult. It takes a very steady hand. I used to build circuitboards for a living just out of high school.

I recall reading Doug post on his board that he removes all identifying numbers & words from his replacement parts to increase the difficulty for copycats.
Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."

And we all thought he wasn't in it for the money...He prett6y much tells you what he does in the descriptions..  Anyone could figure it out if they had enough time and energy to actually research it, take yours apart and look at it.
