look like my olde AT 853a's
same cable length

Audix make some nice affordable mics ... and based (here)
in Oregon
:)

I would like to see them have a bit more low end ... say to 30 or even 20
my AT's are 30 to 20k

but
yes I am wondering too if anyone has any experience with these?

Anyone?

Wonder if they can be modded like the 853's.

The caps *appear* to be the same as the M1290 / M1280 series caps.

I just saw this. Is there any more information on these mics? Does anyone run them?

Freq response looks really gnarly in a bad way (to my eyes at least).

The location of the threading on the caps also looks different from the M1290s, doubt they're very similar internally either.  And really, assuming you want at least ORTF/DINa type spacing the M1290s are every bit as low profile.
