Title: will a cable bend ruin my cable
Post by: bagtagsell on December 23, 2004, 01:01:14 PM
so i got all my gear wired in bag.  However the mme is so long, that there is only an inch or two between bag wall and mme.  this means my interconnect cables take a fairly sharp 75 degree turn.  Is this going to short out the cable?  IF i leave it this way permanently will it be okay?  I just have no idea how to store my gear is this doesnt work.

I know some sit their gear with rear entry on the cables and have had no problems, but I would not recommend it....eventually I would think that you would impact the structure of the cable.  right angle cables or a "cage" like pictures in the rig pics section would help take care of the issue

you could move the cage so that it attaches farther down the unit...so it gives clearance

The minime works so much better with right angle connectors, if I were you I'd look to pick up a pair.  Your best bet would be a pair of short cables that you can leave plugged into the mme and then all you'd have to do is plug your mic cables into the shorties.

So this is what I ended up doing.

My bag is similar to a sonic case.  V2, ODL in one cage.  Under that in the second cage SVU and batteries, Under that was a mme running horizontally.  I decided to run it vertically.  I used my old MBHO cases as a railing on the edge of the cases, to put all cages on top off.  This way I have 3 inches in the cage as protection room, and another two inches from the cases.  The mme sticks out 6 inches from the top of my bag, but I made a cigar box to protect it.  I will have some pics up tonight.
