New 5V battery packs giving me an excuse to keep a JB3
« on: January 20, 2015, 09:14:27 PM »
Im getting rid of my collection of Creative JB3s - but realized all these new 5V battery packs might be perfect for this old standby.

How about this cable?

I think that's the plug? Probably need the 2A output on the battery?

I'd pull out my McCrapper (MT2496) before I pulled that JB3 back out.  No thank-ya.   ;)

When you can get a decent 24 bit SD card recorder for under $100, there really is no reason to invest in stuff for your JB3 (or DAT, mini disc, iriver, etc)
Mics: AT4051, AT4053, KM140, AKG C414, Beyerdynamic MEM86 guns, Nak cm300, AT853 4.7mod
Pre: V3, CA-9100
Recorders: Busman DR-680, iRivers, minidisc, jb3, and DAT

Jb3 might be old but that cable would work with any 5v device utilizing the same tip. I wouldn't trash them
Mics - AKG ck61/ck63 (c480b & Naiant actives), SP-BMC-2
XLR Cables - Silver Path w/Darktrain stubbies
Interconnect Cables - Dogstar (XLR), Darktrain (RCA > 1/8) (1/8 > 1/8), and Kind Kables (1/8f > 1/4)
Preamps - Naiant Littlebox & Tinybox
Recorders - PCM-M10 & DR-60D

I already have the 5V battery to power my TASCAM DR-70D...so the only investment here will be a few bucks for a cable.

I have 4 JB3s...going to keep one for the rare occasion I might wish for a bit bucket.

The cable in question is a Sony PlayStation Portable accessory...(one application)

I've been using the PSPs wal-wart to power my JB3 for years.

Creative was way ahead of the game with this early 5V device! ( I guess due to the HD power spec)
