Title: a plug & play mic to replace my ECM-717
Post by: slowblow on June 24, 2023, 04:47:28 AM
Hi all,
I need to replace my old Sony ECM-717 and I'm looking for a mic for very stealthy situations.
I'm looking for a plug & play mic because I have SP-CMC-8 and battery box but I need a very stealthy mic because of the metal detectors in some venues, so I don't want one who need BB.
Do you have some idea to help me to find the worthy replacement of my EMC-717 ?
I thought about the ECM-719 but impossible to find a new one ...
thanks in advance,
François

Which battery box do you have? Has it set off metal detectors?

The one I have from SP is almost completely plastic and almost certainly would not set of any metal detectors.

My Core Sound battery box does seem to be mostly metal, and I've even taken it through some metal detectors with no problem, though I usually put it in the bin to go around, with my keys, phone and glasses. Very rarely I get asked what it is, and I say it's a cell phone charger battery, never had a problem.

You're almost certainly needlessly worrying. Just use what you have already.

and for the most stealthy mic I ever owned go with the CHURCH AUDIO CAFS ... but be aware, dealing with CURCH AUDIO is a total different story

Honestly, I would just go with the AT853 with the 4.7k mod. You can buy them from Sound Professionals. As long as the R09HR has plug in power (which it does) you can just use these mics without a battery box and will handle very high SPLs.
