Boost a quiet guy+guitar set. Using a hard limiter in SF 7?
« on: April 08, 2007, 12:22:00 PM »
I taped a set that was mainly a guy and his guitar but for a few songs 2 more guys came out...another guitar and someone on drums.

The waveform spends much of the time as quiet at 20db to 15db with portions of it in a nice 12db to 5db range. At the end of one song with a combination of drums & applause the left channel hits -2.2db and the right channel makes it to -0.8db.

How can I raise the recording 2db to 2.5db without majorly messing up that segment? I know I need to apply some kind of -2db limit but want to make sure I do it right. Read the SF Help and it was informative but not much help. Graphic or Multi-Band? Recommendations on a ratio? Many thanks in advance.
