Just sold mine...nice enough, runs forever on 9V DVD batteries...I think the inputs are unbalanced. I ran it with the NAK MX100...but with the JB3, so it was truncating...still - always sounded nice enough.

Just sold mine...nice enough, runs forever on 9V DVD batteries...I think the inputs are unbalanced. I ran it with the NAK MX100...but with the JB3, so it was truncating...still - always sounded nice enough.

Aw crap - I had the Flying Calf - similar product...24bit, but no level control, unbalanced ins...

They stopped making these things YEARS ago I thought. I'd call the A/D technology pretty old. You mostly get what you pay for, you know...

I think you answered your own question upthread...9VAC makes this a no-go...
This was early 24 bit stuff - came out before there were even a handful of recorders that could even accept a 24bit signal...
I think the built in ADs in a lot of inexpensive gear could easily give this a run for the money...
It seems the old A/D>Bit Bucket thing is slowly giving way to all-in-one-sies that sport modern, native 24 bit ADs...

I'd do it for $400 shipped to your door. But it is AC powered only too. A very nice unit with high end converters.....yada yada yada. BUt if you're looking to keep it cheap I'd grab that BIN from the flea. You can easily get an AC ps to power it up. I had looked at those when I was shopping for a second digi input to a 680. Besides the AC only drawback there was something else that didn't work for my application.....I can't remember exactly now it's been awhile....maybe a resample of digi input so it didn't pass a bit perfect signal?? Damn I need to start keeping spread sheets of pro/cons...could have been lack of WC.....sorry I can't remember, check the specs to see if it is a true 24 bit maybe it was a 20bit conversion upsampled????

that's the kind of stuff I was fishing for. I wish you could remember...
The AC is not a problem. I have decent technical skills, and someone to ask if I get stuck -
I was thinking of opening it up, and modding the AC to DC in.
Electronics run on DC, so in the power supply section it converts the AC to DC.
I'd bypass that. (could be my next pictorial mod here on TS)
At $40. it's worth the hacking, and if I burn it our accidentally - $40. hurts a lot less than $200.
But if this is not true 24/48 then I won't bother.

I can tell you that whatever turned me off of that unit I found with a little digging around trying reviews and or reading manual specs or sites like home recording etc.

Right I didn't mean to infer that, I like the lucid and the metering is top notch. If it ran on batteries I'd be sporting a woody :o
